WINC – an older women’s co-housing community in rural Victoria, received a grant from Lesbians Incorporated in round two of 2018. The funds went toward their goal of creating a cohousing community, with the aim of ageing well together in a thriving, sustainable environment. WinC Housing
Older Women in Cohousing Inc. [WINC], an incorporated association of women ranging in age from about 50 to 75. Our purpose is to create a cohousing community for ourselves in Daylesford, Victoria, Australia. They are projected to have 20-25 homes and a common house, most individually owned with some homes for rent to women meeting low income requirements or income asset requirements.
In July 2019 they signed a cooperation deed with Women’s Property Initiative [WPI] to act as their developer. WPI is a well-respected not for profit charitable organisation specialising in safe and affordable housing for women. They will build WINC in return for owning four homes at WINC for women eligible for community housing.
Their project now has a green light and the next step is to purchase the property they have earmarked (which they expect to happen before the end of 2019). Find out more on their Facebook page WinC Housing
