Family Access Network (FAN) received a community grant from Lesbians Incorporated in May of 2020/ FAN is a youth homelessness organisation that has been providing support for over 35 years to young people aged 15-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Along with many mainstream clients, FAN is the only organisation in the state of Victoria who offers a specialised model of housing and support, specifically for LGBTQI young people. FAN currently has two share houses in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, specifically allocated to young LGBTQI clients.
‘4 Walls 4 All’ is a project designed for LGBTQI females who are currently residing in our two share transitional properties (THM’s) supported by FAN. The project will consist of participants engaging in social activities so that they are able to decorate their homes.
It is hoped that they are able to feel safer and more at home in the transitional properties.
Activities will include; • Plant workshop • Painting artwork • Knitting decorative throws • Photo frame workshop. These workshops will engage the services of an art instructor and knitting instructor. The project will also be supported for its duration by 2 Youth Support Workers. It is anticipated that the project will run for a total of 8 weeks. It is expected that each workshop will run for two weeks comprising of 2 hour sessions.
