Wicked Women – Stage 4 Securing Production Funding – received a grant in round one of 2023. The grant will go to helping support Lesbian filmmaker Kate Lefoe, through the purchase of software and online storage to create the story bible, look book and pitch documents for her web series drama – Wicked Women.
Set in the early 90’s, Wicked Women is the love-story of Bec and Jasper (who transitions from Francine), as they hardscrabble to launch a ground-breaking Lesbian erotica magazine. The publication was an uncompromising expression of radical female sexuality and challenged a perceived feminist dogma. For Lesbian women, feeling alienated and under-represented, Wicked Women was a beacon. Bec and Jasper became cultural heroes.
To maintain momentum, Kate applied for funding of digital tools to create the look and feel of the series through a story bible and pitch documents, in order to secure production funding from Screen Australia and a distributor. Wicked Women will be a bold, authentic drama, with a sense of humour and little bit of cheek.
